ABOUT PPLG

Demeka Breedlove-Mays founded Pinnacle Performance Learning Group, LLC (PPLG) in 2006 in Florida and re-established it in 2010 in Georgia to provide students, educators, and education agencies with practical tools they can use to reach the apex of their potential.

Since its inception, PPLG has served over 300 schools, districts, and organizations across the United States and around the globe, impacted thousands of students and families, designed and led the implementation of over 22 award-winning programs, secured over 50 million dollars in federal and state grants and, in partnership with education agencies and nonprofit organizations, PPLG has supported grant-funded initiatives under the U.S. Department of Education (DOE), six state DOEs, and an international education agency.

PPLG's founder is the architect of the constructed response and extended writing frameworks emulated and employed nationally in K12 schools, the assessment development model once adopted by the University of Georgia's College of Education and Georgia's 385 school districts, and the standards-based instructional framework and professional learning community protocols promoted by the Georgia Department of Education and several state education agencies.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Prior to committing full-time to educational consulting, Demeka Breedlove-Mays served in multiple capacities at the state, district, and school levels and in various states and districts across the southeastern United States.

During that time, Demeka garnered respect and recognition in the field for her school turnaround rates, student achievement gains, and innovative school programs and initiatives.

Having devoted over a decade to public and charter school education as a classroom teacher, building leader, district administrator, and state DOE education program specialist, Demeka was inducted into the National Library of Congress for Excellence in Education, received the PTA's Lifetime Achievement Award, named the Miami-Dade County Teacher of the Year, and appointed to numerous educational boards and initiatives with state legislators, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, and former First Lady/Secretary of State/US Senator Hillary Rodham-Clinton.

During her years as a K12 educator and college writing instructor, Demeka held National Board, educational leadership, and teaching certifications. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education from Florida A&M University and her M.Ed. in Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology from NOVA Southeastern University.

As PPLG’s principal consultant, she works regularly with district and building administrators, instructional leaders, and teachers across all grade bands and disciplines. She also presents at education conferences and delivers professional development and student workshops at the national, state, district, and school levels.

A teacher at heart, Demeka uses her spare time to deliver online instruction and college counseling to K12 students around the world and is working on creating educational texts and resources for teachers and instructional leaders.
